ARLINGTON HEIGHTS TO KICK OFF FIRST OF SEVEN COMMUNITY WEEKENDS AT ARLINGTON PARK – MAY 4 - 6
ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. (April 25, 2007) – Arlington Park and the Village of Arlington Heights will kick off the first of seven planned Community Weekends at the track this season from Friday, May 4 through Sunday, May 6 in conjunction with Valvoline Instant Oil Change Opening Weekend featuring the simulcasts of the Kentucky Derby and Kentucky Oaks. Kentucky Derby Day on Saturday, May 5, is the Official Arlington Heights Appreciation Day.
“We are extremely pleased that we are able to kick off the first Community Weekend with our hometown of Arlington Heights,” said Arlington Park President Roy Arnold. “The Village has been instrumental in the success and growth of Arlington Park over the past 80 years.”
Arlington Heights Community Weekend will be highlighted by the Official Arlington Heights Appreciation Day on Saturday, May 5 when the first race in Arlington’s 2007 Starter Series will be named for the community and the trophy presentation following the race will be made to the winning connections by the Arlington Heights Mayor Arlene Muldar.
Also on Derby Day, May 5, the Arlington Heights Chamber of Commerce will be holding their 60th Anniversary Celebration in the International Room at Arlington Park. The event, which includes a lunch buffet and open bar, is open to all members of the public with tickets priced at $65 per person. In addition, the Village’s municipal agencies will be represented by an Arlington Heights fire truck, prisoner transport vehicle and their new police cruiser, which will all be displayed in the park area at the track.
Arlington Heights residents are eligible for two free admissions passes good on any day from Friday, May 4 through Sunday, May 6 with an option of an upgrade to include a specially discounted Bistro Lunch on Official Arlington Heights Appreciation Day on Saturday, May 5. Tickets and the Bistro Lunch upgrade are available either on the web at www.arlingtonparkevents.com/tickets or by calling the track at 847/385-7550. All tickets must be mailed to an Arlington Heights address.

Arlington Park, which celebrates both its 80th anniversary and the 25th running of the Grade I Arlington Million this season, will host Community Appreciation Weekends for seven local municipalities in 2007: Arlington Heights, Buffalo Grove, Elk Grove Village, Hoffman Estates, Palatine, Rolling Meadows and Schaumburg.
Arlington Park – the Chicago area’s premier Thoroughbred racetrack located in Arlington Heights, Ill. – will run a 94-day meet in 2007 from Friday, May 4 through Sunday, Sept. 16.
