(April 18, 2007) – One of the best ways for a family to spend a Sunday afternoon together is at Arlington Park. Every Sunday from May 6 through Sept. 16 is a Pepsi Family Day presented by the Daily Herald, which returns for the 2007 season with a special theme each week that the entire family can enjoy. As part of Arlington’s celebration of the Valvoline Instant Oil Change Opening Weekend festivities, which includes the simulcast of the Kentucky Derby the day before, children will be invited to “Make a Derby Hat” on Sunday, May 6. Mardi Gras, On the Farm and Circus theme days are just a few of the other great ways that Mom and Dad can spend time with the kids. In addition, all the favorite Family Day staples from years past -- pony rides, petting zoo and face painters -- are back. Also on selected Sundays, the children can sign up and participate in Arlington Park’s Junior Jockey Club, which is open to kids 12 and under. The Junior Jockey Club, which is free to join, educates children about Arlington Park and horse racing through hands-on activities and giveaways. Children 17 and under are always admitted free to Arlington Park. Junior Jockey Club events are held on selected Pepsi Family Day Sundays and some events require pre-registration on the Junior Jockey Club hotline (847) 870-6614. Beginning in June, Arlington fans can look for specially-marked Mountain Dew cans, and starting in August, Pepsi cans at local retail outlets, featuring a free admission to Arlington Park redeemable on any Sunday during the 2007 racing season. The entire theme schedule for Pepsi Family Day follows: Date Theme For more details on individual Pepsi Family Day themes, check the online calendar at www.arlingtonpark.com.
