TONY PETRILLO PROMOTED TO VICE PRESIDENT OF FACILITIES AND OPERATIONS AT ARLINGTON PARK
ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. (Feb. 7, 2007) – Arlington Park Director of Operations and Facilities Tony Petrillo, 46, has been promoted to Vice President of Facilities and Operations, it was announced today by Arlington Park President Roy Arnold. Petrillo had served as the racetrack’s Director of Facilities and Operations since 1999.
“We are extremely pleased to announce the promotion of Tony Petrillo to Vice President of Facilities and Operations for Arlington Park,” said track President Roy Arnold in making the announcement. “Tony has been a tremendous help to me personally in my first year as president and he literally knows where every switch and nail is located throughout the 700,000 square feet of the Arlington Park grandstand.
“He has my complete confidence and support, and I look forward to working shoulder-to-shoulder with him as we lead Arlington into the future,” added Arnold.
“I’m honored by this promotion, but the real credit should go to all of the staff at Arlington Park, especially those in the facilities and operations departments,” said Petrillo. “It’s all of the people who work here and the teamwork that we have together that makes Arlington Park a great facility that provides a unique entertainment experience for our customers.”
In his new role, Petrillo will supervise Arlington Park’s Facilities, Housekeeping, Security, and Track and Turf Departments. He will be responsible for the design, planning, construction and maintenance of the entire 325-acre facility, which includes the grandstand, backstretch stable area and parking lots. In addition, Petrillo will ensure that the track is in compliance with zoning, traffic and OSHA regulations, and will act as liaison with local government and state regulatory agencies.
Petrillo joined Arlington Park in 1994 as a business analyst, serving as a strategic partner to the president in real estate diversification and developing OTB locations. In 1999, when he was promoted to the Director of Facilities and Operations, he took on responsibility for the company’s capital budget and strategic business initiatives.
Before joining the Arlington Park family, Petrillo served as Project Manager, then as the Assistant Director with the Illinois Racing Board, administering regulations governing horse racing and wagering.
Along with the many professional relationships he maintains with community organizations as part of his duties at Arlington Park, Petrillo has additional involvement within the community as an Arlington Heights Zoning Board Commissioner, Council Member of the Racetrack Chaplaincy of America and Executive Board Member of the Sockers FC Youth Foundation. In addition, he volunteers for numerous community and political-based activities.
Arlington Park – the Chicago area’s premier Thoroughbred racetrack located in Arlington Heights, Ill. – will run a 94-day meet in 2007 from Friday, May 4 through Sunday, Sept. 16.
