Summer Handicapping Contests Heat Up Hawthorne
The track may be dark for live racing, but the action at Hawthorne Race Course is still hot and heavy this summer.
The track’s highly popular handicapping contests return on Saturday, July 29 with the Breeders’ Crown Challenge. A trio of other summer simulcast tournaments will also be held during the off season:
For a $20 entry fee, which includes a buffet, players will have a chance to compete for an entry into the Coast Casino’s $500,000 Fall Classic (http://www.coastrace.com/), to be held October 5-8 at the Orleans in Las Vegas (along with a $500 travel voucher). A total of $2,000 in prizes and Club Hawthorne points will be distributed at each contest. Contests are held in on the third floor of the grandstand.
