Trio of high class stakes, fan friendly promotions highlight sensational Saturday

The 70th running of the $500,000 Grade II Hawthorne Gold Cup is the marquee event of the 79-day fall meet, and Hawthorne has added several perks to the festivities on Saturday, September 30, to make a live day at the track that much more enjoyable.

Golden Pick Three

In addition to the Gold Cup, Hawthorne will also present a pair of stakes races on the turf – the Grade III $150,000 Robert F. Carey Memorial for the boys and the $100,000 Indian Maid for the girls. The stakes triple will be packaged into a $50,000 guaranteed “Golden Pick Three” wager beginning with race seven.

The Gold Cup Day races will be drawn on Thursday, and the day’s entire live program will be made available for free at www.hawthorneracecourse.com later in the day. Past performances can also be found through the Daily Racing Form website at www.drf.com. Any Saturday card that is downloaded through the DRF website will also include past performances for Hawthorne’s “Golden Pick Three” races.

Club Hawthorne Wagering Bonus

Hawthorne is offering a “Golden Rewards” bonus for Club Hawthorne members wagering on track on Gold Cup Day. Those who wager $250 or more will receive:

  • Two free buffets and admission passes to use in the Gold Cup Dining Room ($40 value).

The 2006 fall Thoroughbred meet at Hawthorne Race Course runs September 15 through December 31 with live racing five days per week: Wednesday through Sunday (except Nov. 23). The dark days are Monday and Tuesday (except Oct. 9). Post time on Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday is 1:10 p.m. Friday post time through November 17 is 3 p.m., at which time it will revert back to 1:10 p.m. for the remainder of the meet.
