HAWTHORNE RACE COURSE
| Hawthorne Racecourse (5/26/06) Contact: DAK Productions Trivoli Makes a Statement With an easy victory in the second division of leg two of the Brandenburg Stake Thursday evening at Hawthorne, Trivoli established himself as the horse to beat in the $47,500 Final for 3-year-old Illinois-Bred trotting colts scheduled to go postward on Hawthornes second annual Night Of Champions, Saturday, June 3. Driver/trainer Homer Hochstetler sent Trivoli right to the pilots seat from post six and the son of Primrose Lane made every pole a winning one en route to a 2 ½ length victory over Traditional Vic in 1:58.3, while second choice Dancing Offtoplay settled for third money. Unraced at two, Trivoli has won 5 of 6 starts as a 3 year-old with one second place finish and the victory pushed his bankroll over the $25,000 mark. In the other division, Litigator was bet down to 1-5 as the 3-year-old altered son of Valley Victory entered the race undefeated in his sophomore season. However, fate intervened as Litigator (Tim Tetrick) made a break while on the lead approaching the half. The break occurred just at the time when Earlivic and driver/trainer attacked from third in an effort to assume command. Earlivic kept rolling on the lead and looked like a winner with a 3-length lead inside the 1/8th pole. However, stablemate Crown Vic and Dave Magee kept cutting into the lead and the Valley Victor gelding nailed the victory right at the wire. The neck victory in 1:58.2 was Crown Vics maiden score and guaranteed him a spot on the gate in the final. Hes The Cashews finished third, while Litigator recovered to garner fourth money. The top ten money earners after leg two of the Brandenburg Stake are: 1.
