Trivoli and Litigator Capture Divisions of Leg One of Brandenburg Stake
Trivoli and Litigator moved one step further to a showdown in the $50,000 est. Brandenburg Stake on the Night Of Champions at Hawthorne. The pair were easy winners in their respective divisions of leg one of the stake on Thursday night and both Illinois-bred 3-year-old trotters have earned co-favoritism leading to the final.
With trainer Homer Hochstetler at the controls, Trivoli came first-over in the five horse field that was reduced with a trio of scratches. Valley Liberator shot to the lead past the opening quarter and battled the eventual winner to the eighth pole before giving way and finishing second, 1 ¾ lengths behind the winner. Earlivic was third in the 2:00.2 mile.
Litigator took no prisoners in the second division as Tim Tetrick took the altered son of Valley Victor right to the top and the Roger Welch trainee opened the margin at every call enroute to a 5 length victory in 1:57.2. Dancing Offtoplay came from the back of the pack to garner second money, while Traditional Vic held third after mounting a first-over attack on the eventual winner.
The top ten money earners from leg one and leg two will return for the final on Saturday, June 3, Hawthorne’s second annual Night Of Champions.
