HAWTHORNE RACE COURSE
| Hawthorne Racecourse (5/16/06) Contact: DAK Productions The Vicster Rolls In Tune-up For Eddy Oakley Stake The Vicster held off a fast closing Battleshoe Victor to register a ½ length victory in Hawthornes featured $12,000 conditioned trot on Tuesday evening. The Vicster, with Tim Tetrick in the bike, left from post seven and dropped into fourth as the field hit the quarter pole in :28.2 with Honor The Cash and Todd Warren in the pilots seat. Tetrick then hustled The Vicster to the top and led the field through fractional cuts of :56.3 and 1:26.2. Midway down the lane, The Vicster opened up a 4-length advantage as Honor The Cash went on a break. However, Dave Magee found late clearance with Battleshoe Victor and their sparkling late charge fell a ½ length short in the 1:55.1 mile. Illinois-bred millionaire Million Dollar Bye was 7 lengths back in third. Trained by Mark Fransen, The Vicster is an early favorite in the $50,000 est. Eddy Oakley Stake. Leg One of the Eddy Oakley, named after Daryl Busses great Illinois-bred trotter, goes postward on Sunday and The Vicster is on schedule to be a major factor in the Final scheduled on the Night of Champions, Saturday, June 3. Both Battleshoe Victor and Million Dollar Bye were not nominated to the Eddy Oakley Stake, but the unique supplemental provision utilized by Hawthorne for all of their stakes could allow both to enter the Stake for $5,500.
