HAWTHORNE RACE COURSE
| Hawthorne Racecourse (4/25/06) Contact: DAK Productions Rojas Suffers Broken Rib Apprentice jockey Denis Rojas was treated and released from Loyola Hosptial in Maywood, Illinois, after suffering a broken rib as a result of a freak accident that occurred just prior to the running of Tuesday’s fifth race at Hawthorne Race Course. As the horses approached the starting gate, Rojas’ mount, the Ron Goodridge-trained Tazztrum, tossed the jockey, flipped over, and landed on top of him. “Everything checked out ok internally,” said Rojas’ agent John Christiano. “He has a stakes mount on Saturday (Come Shine in the $100,000 Governor’s Lady) that I know he wants to honor, but it’s all up in the air right now. He’s going to be evaluated by a doctor tomorrow.” Through Tuesday’s races, Rojas owns five wins from 53 mounts at the current Hawthorne spring meeting. Hawthorne’s summer 2006 Standardbred meet runs May 6 through June 17 with live racing six days per week: Tuesday through Sunday.
