Watch and Wager on the Dubai World Cup Card at Hawthorne
Hawthorne will give fans ample opportunities to wager on the richest racing program of the year.
Advance wagering on Saturday’s $6 million Dubai World Cup and five other stakes races from Nad al Sheba Racecourse in the Persian Gulf Emirate, will be made available Friday at Hawthorne. Past performances can be found in the simulcast program.
Hawthorne’s gates will open at 7 a.m. on Saturday to accommodate those wishing to watch and wager on the Dubai World Cup races. The Dubai World Cup card kicks off with the $1 million Godolphin Mile (scheduled post time of 11:20 a.m., CST).
Other races on Saturday’s Dubai World Cup schedule include:
Locally on Saturday, a stakes caliber field has been entered for the featured fourth race optional claiming ($100,000) allowance (nw1y). Nkosi Reigns and Ole Faunty could both earn a shot at the Grade III National Jockey Club Handicap (April 22) with a solid effort, and Air Academy and High Expections will likely use this start as a springboard to the $100,000 Milwaukee Ave. Handicap on Illinois Champions Day (April 29).
Hawthorne Race Course is located in Stickney, Illinois. Their spring 2006 Thoroughbred meet runs through May 4 with live racing five days per week – Friday through Tuesday. Post time is 1:10 p.m. daily, but on March 31, Friday post times will shift to 3 p.m. for the duration of the spring season. Hawthorne is dark Wednesdays and Thursdays and Easter Sunday April 16, but full card simulcasting from racetracks across the country is offered every day.
