Hawthorne Announces Lucrative Prize Additions to Handicapping Tournaments
Hawthorne Race Course, in partnership with Coast Casinos, has added several lucrative Las Vegas handicapping tournament entries to the list of outstanding prizes for both the Spring Series and the coveted $50,000 Midwest Championship.
Recently added to the 2006 Spring Series Championship for the top five finishers is entry into the Gold Coast Summer Classic, to be held at the Gold Coast Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada, July 20-22. The package includes hotel accommodations and a $500 travel voucher. It is a unique opportunity, as the Gold Coast Summer Classic does not host many qualifying sites.
In addition, the $50,000 Midwest Championship will honor the second, third, & fourth place finishers with entry into the 2007 Horseplayer World Series to be held at the Orleans in Las Vegas in January of 2007. This package also includes hotel accommodations and a $500 travel voucher.
“We believe that Chicago area handicappers are some of the best in the country and thanks to the tremendous cooperation from Coast Casinos, our players will have a chance to prove it,” Hawthorne’s Director of Marketing Joe Scurto proudly stated. “For players who haven’t played in the Spring Series yet, these additional prizes open up an opportunity for them to get started.”
The Spring Series, a full schedule of 19 handicapping tournaments held each weekend at Hawthorne, kicked off on January 14 and continues through April 23. Each individual tournament package costs $20, and players receive a package that has a value of $20 in return, along with a day of entertaining tournament play. The top ten finishers in each tournament win over 50,000 in Club Hawthorne (rewards program) points and free entries to the $50,000 Midwest Championship are also awarded to top finishers every week.
In addition to those great prizes, every participant earns Spring Series points in each tournament based on their final tournament placing. Overall Spring Series Championship standings are updated weekly on the Hawthorne website and at Club Hawthorne. Throughout the Spring Series, over 100 entries to the $50,000 Midwest Championship, held at Hawthorne on April 29-30, will be awarded to the top finishers in each tournament, making this one of the most lucrative series of tournaments in the Midwest.
The 2006 Spring Series culminates with the Spring Series Finale on April 23rd, and the player who has earned the most championship points throughout the 19-tournament challenge will drive away with a 2006 Dodge Charger lease, courtesy of Mancari’s, a Gold Coast Summer Classic package, and a championship jacket and trophy. The second through fifth place finishers in the Spring Series Championship will also receive a Gold Coast Summer Classic package.
The $50,000 Midwest Championship, a two-day handicapping extravaganza (April 29 and 30), has already drawn players from all over the country. The tournament is limited to 250 players – with 100 qualifiers won throughout the Spring Series, and 150 buy-in entries available. With the tournament package of $200 or 10,000 Club Hawthorne points, each player will receive a 2006 Annual Admission Pass to Hawthorne, a catered lunch for each day, a Daily Racing Form, and the thrill of competitive tournament play.
At the end of the two-day event, the player with the highest total of points will be crowned the Midwest Champion. The Midwest Champion will receive a $20,000 check, along with a Championship jacket and trophy. The top twenty finishers will all receive cash prizes and three lucky top finishers will receive Horseplayer World Series packages.
Registration for the $50,000 Midwest Championship is now open and entries are going fast.
