Contact: David Zenner LAVIOLETTE SCORES CAREER WIN NO. 1,500 ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. (June 22, 2006) -- Jockey Shane Laviolette notched his 1,500th career victory in Thursday’s fourth race at Arlington Park astride Craig Noser’s Stormy o’Bryan for trainer Eddie Essenpreis. The New Orleans born Laviolette, 32, has been a mainstay on the Chicago racing scene since the mid-1990s after spending the early part of his riding career in his native Louisiana. “It took a long time but you have to keep plugging at it,” Laviolette said. “My meet has been a little bit slow but you can’t give up. I have to thank (trainer) Tommy Tomillo. He brought me to Chicago and has put me on a lot of winners.” Arlington Park -- the Chicago area's premier Thoroughbred racetrack located in Arlington Heights, Ill. -- will run a 95-day meet in 2006 from Friday, May 5 through Tuesday, Sept. 12. Arlington Park, whose parent company is Churchill Downs Incorporated (Nasdaq: CHDN), also operates eight off-track, simulcast-wagering facilities: Trackside Arlington Park (Arlington Heights), Trackside Quad City Downs (East Moline), Trackside Chicago, Trackside McHenry, Trackside Rockford, Trackside South Beloit, Trackside Waukegan and Lucky's featuring Trackside OTB in South Elgin.
