Horsin’ Around TV Crosses the Finish Line
We’ve crossed the finish line for our third season on Horsin’ Around TV, and I’d like to take this time to thank all of our sponsors for their continued belief in and support of this show.
We have received tremendous industry backing from Arlington Park, Balmoral Park, the IHHA, the ITHA, Hawthorne Racecourse, Maywood Park and the Breeders’ Cup. They recognize the importance of having a consistent horseracing presence within their marketplace, and I thank them for trusting me with the reins.
I am also very grateful to all of our viewers, and I truly hope that we are coming close to meeting your expectations as a racing fan.
Let’s face it. We’re not the NFL, the MLB or the NBA. Television entities rarely pay for the rights to broadcast our product. Outside of the Kentucky Derby, the Breeders’ Cup, and locally, the Arlington Million, horseracing gets very little coverage from local media outlets.
Horseracing is a great game. If you watched our show, I don’t have to tell you that. You’re already a fan.
But the truth is, we’re fighting an uphill battle.
In order for racing to survive, let alone grow and prosper, we must continue to provide solid information to our current fans. We must also dedicate ourselves to cultivating an even broader base of horse racing enthusiasts.
Horsin’ Around TV was created out of nothing, and I’m very proud of the progress that we’ve made during the course of our 86 episodes. We’ve taken giant strides forward in improving the quality of the content, and the look and feel of the show.
In addition to covering races and producing both educational and feature segments, we’ve also provided free contests and produced hour-long specials for our biggest racing events. We’re satisfied with what we’ve done so far, but we’re not quite where we want to be, just yet.
Our objective for 2006?
Expand to an hour show EVERY WEEK.
22 minutes of content time just isn’t enough to cover both Thoroughbred and Harness racing adequately. A regular, one-hour program affords us the time to take you behind the scenes more regularly, dig deeper into races, discuss and debate issues that face both sports, and offer extended handicapping advise and wagering strategies.
Can we accomplish this goal?
I think so, and I can promise you that I’m going to work like hell to get it done.
Additional air-time and production costs will raise the stakes for Horsin’ Around TV in 2006, but by expanding the program, we will have more slots to offer to potential sponsors.
It’s time for yours truly to pound the pavement in search of sponsorships. If you would like to promote your business, stable or horse sale on Horsin’ Around TV in 2006, drop DAK an e-mail at dakracingHA@aol.com. Please include your name, type of business, a contact number and a mailing address (so I can forward you an advertising packet). We can mix and match options to come up with a very affordable plan that best fits your needs. Give us a chance. Let’s talk!
This show might be out to pasture for a few months, but Thoroughbred racing continues at Hawthorne through January 2 and the NJC spring meet kicks off on Feb. 24. Live Harness racing rolls on through the winter months at both Balmoral and Maywood.
Until we meet again everyone, thanks for watching, and keep on Horsin’ Around!!!
