Illinois Derby Winning "Pick Three" Hits Chicago Airwaves

Illinois Derby Featured BOTH Friday and Saturday on TV and Radio!

The Grade II Illinois Derby at Hawthorne, Chicago's richest race for 3-year-olds and a major prep for the May 7 Kentucky Derby, will be run on Saturday, and DAK Productions has helped put together a trio of entertaining shows for the racing fan.

A light-hearted Illinois Derby preview show presented by Hawthorne airs on today at 5 p.m. and 11 p.m. on Comcast SportsNet Chicago. DAK tackles the race from a historical perspective, profiles this year's contenders, and chats with Hawthorne's leading rider Chris Emigh.

In addition, ESPN Radio 1000's Harry Teinowitz roams the streets of Chicago, searching out the city's opinion on the race, and Patrice Poltzer of "The Nude Hippo: Your Chicago Show", takes the viewer on an entertaining grand tour of Hawthorne. This show is lively, entertaining, and has a little something for everyone, including a cameo acting appearance by "The Maven." Don't miss it!

On Saturday morning from 8 to 9 a.m. on ESPN Radio 1000, Teinowitz is joined by Horsin' Around TV's Dave "The Maven" Gutfreund for more Illinois Derby fodder. The team will talk live to Illinois Derby participants, and they'll field calls from local racing fans.

Even more Illinois Derby Day analysis can be found on Saturday's special one-hour edition of Horsin' Around TV, airing at 1 a.m., 6 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. on Comcast SportsNet.

The Thoroughbred Maven Dave Gutfreund, Daily Racing Form's Marcus Hersh, and Hawthorne television analyst Jim Miller will break down Hawthorne's Illinois Derby, Lost Code and Meafara Stakes.

DAK breaks down the contenders from top to bottom and chats with trainers Ken McPeek (Kansas City Boy) and Todd Pletcher (Monarch Lane). Liane Davis looks back at the Illinois Derby's most famous winner War Emblem, and his late owner Russell L. Reineman, and the Daily Racing Form tells us "What to Watch" in the Wood Memorial and the Santa Anita Derby.
