Horsin' Around TV Returns Saturday!

Horseplayer World Series highlighted on opening program

Horsin' Around TV, a horse racing magazine and preview show highlighting the best of Illinois Thoroughbred and harness action, returns to the airwaves on Saturday.

Following the lead of the Bulls, Cubs, White Sox and Blackhawks, Horsin' Around TV joins the Comcast SportsNet team for it's third season. The show will air Saturdays through November 12 at 1 a.m. , 6 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. (with the exception of March 19 and March 26 when the late air time is pushed back to 11:30 a.m. due to prior scheduling commitments on Comcast SportsNet).

In addition, Horsin' Around TV will also air weekly at 11:30 a.m across the Illinois simulcast network (racetracks and off track betting facilities) and on www.youbet.com.

Educational segments will play a larger roll in the show's third season. A pair of new segments, "Better Betting" and "Under Wraps," will trade off every other week. In "Better Betting" Joe Kristufek, Dave "The Maven" Gutfreund and Mike Antoniades will tackle wagering angles and strategies. In "Under Wraps," feature reporters Liane Davis and Molly Ryan will examine the day-to-day inner workings of horse racing.

Saturday's "Better Betting" takes us to the recently concluded Horseplayer World Series handicapping tournament held at the Orleans Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. DAK, Maven and Mike Antoniades discuss the allure of handicapping contests, and what the future holds for them in both Thoroughbred and harness racing.

Also on this week's show:

  • DAK and Maven update the current Hawthorne meet, and preview Saturday's card.
  • Daily Racing Form's Dan Illman tells us "What to Watch" this weekend on the 3-year-old scene.
  • Quik Pulse Mindale returns to the races in Saturday's Free for All at Balmoral. Mike Antoniades also previews the Open from the Meadowlands starring Life Source and Eaton Road Kill and the Female Open from Balmoral featuring Cinder Best and Lou Annie, and looks back at the career of Gallo Blue Chip.

This weekend on DAK Racing:

  • Horsin' Around TV Returns
  • Maven Derby Dozen
  • Maven's Handicapping Contest Column
  • Free thoroughbred and harness selections
  • And a whole lot more!
