Horsin' Around TV Leaves the Starting Gate on March 19th

Chicago-based horse racing magazine enters its third season

In conjunction with Arlington Park, Hawthorne Race Course, Balmoral Park, Maywood Park, the Illinois Thoroughbred Horsemen's Organization, and the Illinois Harness Horsemen's Association, DAK Productions, Inc. is proud to announce the third season of Horsin' Around TV, a horse racing magazine and preview show.

Following the lead of the Bulls, Cubs, White Sox and Blackhawks, Horsin' Around TV has joined the Comcast SportsNet team for 2005. The show will air Saturdays at 1 a.m., 6 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. (with the exception of March 19 and 26 when the late air time is pushed back to 11:30 a.m. due to prior scheduling commitments on Comcast SportsNet).

In addition, Horsin' Around TV will also air weekly at 11:30 a.m across the Illinois simulcast network (racetracks and off track betting facilities) and on www.youbet.com.

Included in the 35-week run will be seven expanded, one-hour specials, highlighting marquee racing events such as the Illinois Derby at Hawthorne (April 9), Illinois Champions Day at Hawthorne (April 30), Arlington Million Preview Day (July 23), the Arlington Million (August 13), Super Night at Balmoral (September 17), the Hawthorne Gold Cup (September 24), and the Breeders' Cup World Thoroughbred Championships to be run this year at Belmont Park in New York (October 29). An additional half-hour show previewing Windy City Pace Night at Maywood has also been scheduled for Thursday night, October 27 (TBA, Friday afternoon replay).

Horsin' Around TV is produced and hosted by longtime Chicago racing veteran Joe Kristufek, who also serves as the turf writer and handicapper for the Daily Herald. Expert horseplayers Dave "The Thoroughbred Maven" Gutfreund and Mike Antoniades return as racing analysts.

Thoroughbred trainer Liane Davis, who captured a prestigious Hervey Award in Horsin' Around TV's 2003 debut season for her moving piece on the Welch family and their prized mare Giggles The Clown, resumes her roll as features producer. Davis will be assisted by Molly Ryan, who enters her second season on Horsin' Around TV.

Daily Racing Form's Marcus Hersh, DAK Racing's Michael Costanzo, Hawthorne announcer Peter Galassi, Hawthorne television analyst Jim Miller and Balmoral Park publicity director Tom Kelley will also contribute on a regular basis.

"We've made great strides in our first two seasons, but based on letters we received from some of our viewers, I've decided to change our approach a little bit," Kristufek said. "We'll continue to preview the weekend's important races, but we're going to focus a lot more on education, and how to tackle the wagering process successfully."

The new and improved DAK Racing website www.dakracing.com houses up-to-date news and views, daily selections, forums, polls, contests, and educational columns.
