GOVERNOR APPOINTS CASCIATO TO RACING BOARD
CHICAGO, IL (May 19, 2005) -- Governor Rod Blagojevich announced the appointment of Joseph N. Casciato to serve as a commissioner of the Illinois Racing Board.
The Honorable Joseph N. Casciato presided in the prestigious law division of the Circuit Court of Cook County for fourteen years. His assignment to the trial and motion sections afforded him the opportunity to adjudicate some of the most far reaching civil lawsuits in the areas of medical malpractice, negligence, and commercial and coverage disputes. A graduate of Loyola University and the DePaul University School of Law, he is currently a litigator in the Chicago law firm of Rusin Maciorowski and Friedman, Ltd, specializing in full service litigation practice to its client base of employers, industry and insurance carriers.
Mr. Casciato is an adjunct professor at his Alma Mater DePaul University Law School, writing and teaching a substantive course entitled "Illinois Civil Litigation." He has long been involved with the National Hockey League Players Association as a consultant and adviser on contractual matters and player arbitrations.
He and his wife, Jeanne, reside in Burr Ridge with their three children.
