Hawthorne Race Course To Offer Breeders’ Cup Community Wagers

STICKNEY, IL -- Every race day brings an opportunity for fans to win, but for those that come to Hawthorne Race Course on Breeders’ Cup Day there will be another way to win. Beginning on Saturday, October 22, local handicapping aficionados Joe Kristufek and Jim Miller will be collecting contributions towards a Community Wager to be placed on the Ultra Pick 6 and a Superfecta wager on the Breeders’ Cup Classic.

With these handicapping professionals’ help, the Community Wager is a great opportunity for everyone from the casual fan to the hard-core bettor to play with the big boys and be part of one of the most exciting wagers in horseracing.

“This is a chance to win a lot with very little investment,” Peter Galassi, Hawthorne’s announcer and long time horse-racing enthusiast states in his recognizable timber.

John Shoemaker, a casual race fan agrees, stating, “The Community Wager is a chance for me to be part of the Ultra Pick 6 and have a decent shot of cashing. Trying to do it on my own would cost way too much or limit my selections on a day that can produce some giant prices.”

Hawthorne Race Course will begin accepting contributions to the Community Wager at 11am on Saturday, October 22 at the Customer Service Center and will accept contributions until 12:30pm on Saturday, October 29. At that time, all monies will be pooled and Joe Kristufek and Jim Miller will play four tickets, three on the Ultra Pick 6 and one on the Breeders’ Cup Superfecta.

Copies of these four tickets will be posted throughout Hawthorne Race Course via the in-house television so that fans will know who to cheer on in the 2005 Breeders’ Cup races. And if the Community Wager wins, so do all of the fans that came out to Hawthorne Race Course and decided to celebrate the 2005 World Thoroughbred Championship by contributing to the Community Wager, where a little could win you a lot!
