MAKE MY HEART SING WINS POSSIBLY PERFECT STAKES
ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. (July 4, 2005) -- Orastis Thoroughbreds' Make My Heart Sing rallied wide into the stretch to win the $42,500 Possibly Perfect Stakes by a half length at Arlington Park on July 4. Jesse Campbell rode the Toni Gabriel-trained daughter of King of Kings who covered the mile and an eighth over yielding turf in 1:51.63.
"I talked to Toni briefly this morning and she told me to just try to get her a clean trip," said Campbell. "She's had some trouble in the past. Sometimes she fires and when she fires, she really fires. I was making my move along with (trainer Tom) Proctor's horse (Joyful Ballad) and I put her in behind horses. She got competitive from that because she just took off on me. She ran like she was supposed to win, like she was one of the top choices."
The longest price in the nine-horse field, she paid $76.60, $25.80 and $9.60. Monday's victory was the second of the year and third overall for Make My Heart Sing, who picked up $25,500 to push her earnings to $81,677.
Atlantic Frost was second and paid $4.80 and $3.40. Humorous Miss finished third and returned $4.20.
My Dear Lady, Joyful Ballad, Vitamin Bag, Sunset Kisses, 5-2 favorite Galloping Gal and Bolshoi Ballet completed the order of finish.
