ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. (August 13, 2005) -- The total, all-sources handle on Arlington Park's 12-race card on International Festival of Racing Saturday was a record $20,987,021, an increase of $3,073,588 (+ 17.2 %) from the previous record total of $17,913,433 established last year. The total includes $20,630,186 in the commingled pool, which for the first time this year includes Canada, plus $356,835 from France.

On track, the 28,312 in attendance wagered $3,206,659, a $36,868 (+1.2%) increase from the 2004 total of $3,169,791. Attendance for the 2004 International Festival of Racing was 30,414.

"The entire card, especially the three featured Grade 1 races, was so strong that it attracted a tremendous amount of attention and wagering nationwide as well as in Canada and France," said Arlington Park President Cliff Goodrich. "The field in Arlington Million probably made it the best race run in the country this year.

"The weather had an adverse affect on the attendance today," continued Goodrich. "In addition, the fact that the abbreviated Summer Festival, with its lower purses, has resulted in lower attendance in the weeks leading up to the Million and that also contributed to the decrease in this year's attendance."

A total of $5,001,147 was wagered on the 2005 Arlington Million, including $4,851,651 in the commingled pool and $149,496 in France. On-track $662,511 was wagered on the Million.

The NTRA Pick 4, which was bet through NYRA - Saratoga, was $1,162,771 nationwide.
