Hall of Famer Bill Hartack Featured on Horsin' Around TV

Five-time Kentucky Derby winner joins Joe Kristufek to discuss his Hall of Fame career, his upcoming book, and the allure of Smarty Jones.

If one were to compose a list of top riders of the twentieth-century, the name Bill Hartack would be near the top of that list. A Hall of Famer with over 4,200 wins, five Kentucky Derby victories, two Preakness scores, and a Belmont to his credit, his accomplishments speak volumes.

Known as a fierce competitor, Hartack's disdain for the media is well documented, but he sits down for a rare interview with Horsin' Around TV's Joe Kristufek to discuss the popularity and allure of the current Triple Crown hopeful, Smarty Jones, and he tackles the question of why the crown is so difficult to sweep. In addition, Hartack will reminisce about his own flirtation with the Triple Crown: he twice headed to the Belmont with an opportunity to grasp for glory, in 1964 with Northern Dancer, and again in 1969 aboard Majestic Prince.

"I feel very privileged that Mr. Hartack agreed to sit down and chat with us," Kristufek said. "He says some very interesting things about the two shots he had at the Triple Crown."

The broadcast will also include Mike Costanzo's video presentation on recent Triple Crown winners, and near misses.
