GOVERNOR APPOINTS FARLEY AND METCALF TO RACING BOARD
CHICAGO, IL -- Governor Rod Blagojevich announced the appointment of William Farley, Jr. and Jon Metcalf as Commissioners of the Illinois Racing Board.
Mr. Farley, a resident of Oak Park, Illinois, is a corporate lawyer with over 20 years of legal experience. A graduate of Yale University, Yale Law School, and a Rhodes Scholar at Oxford University, he is currently a partner in the Chicago law firm of Burris, Wright, Slaughter & Tom, LLC, specializing in corporate counseling, commercial and construction litigation, products liability, and government contracting and regulation. He is a former partner with the law firms Jenner & Block and Mc Dermott, Will & Emery. He also served as General Counsel for the Chicago Transit Authority and First Assistant Corporation Counsel for the City of Chicago.
Mr. Farley serves as President of Business and Professional People for the Public Interest and currently serves on the boards of the Constitutional Rights Foundation and the Public Interest Law Initiative.
Mr. Metcalf is a resident of Cook County and a partner of Randall Metals Corporation in Elk Grove Village, Illinois. He received his B.S. degree from the University of Wisconsin at Oshkosh. He has been in the steel business for the past 25 years. Before becoming a partner and President of the Randall Metals Corporation in 1993, he was employed by Inland Steel. Randall Metals Corporation has two steel service centers located in Elk Grove Village and Salisbury, North Carolina with approximately 70 employees.
