Driver Andy Miller Posts 4,000 Career Wins
STICKNEY, IL -- Longtime local harness driver Andy Miller posted his 4,000th career victory on Friday night as he guided home Perdition, his fourth winner on the night, to victory in the Fox Valley Dynamic Stakes at Hawthorne. All four wins on the card came for trainer, brother Erv Miller.
The 38-year-old Miller has been a local favorite, driving at Maywood, Balmoral, and Hawthorne, and he recently raced at the Meadowlands as well as making stops at many other tracks throughout the country. A longtime Illinois resident, Andy is married to trainer Julie Miller and they have two children.
Miller began his driving career in 1985 and won his first race in 1986. He posted career years in 2000 and 2001 as he won 613 races in 2000 for $5,623,134 in purses and won 509 races in 2001 for $3,944,505. Miller has also posted 40 career wins as a trainer.
In 2004, Hawthorne Race Course is open year-round for full-card simulcasting. Harness racing returned on July 15 as the Suburban Downs at Hawthorne summer harness meet runs 55 consecutive nights through September 7. Thoroughbreds are back in the fall with the Hawthorne fall meet which races from September 24 -- December 31.
