HAPPY NEW YEAR!

With a win in the ninth race on Monday, jockey Shane Laviolette secured the first riding title of his career. The victory aboard Gee Don't You Wish ($27.40) was Laviolette's first win since Friday. Meier won two to gain a tie on Sunday. Congratulations, Shane.

GOODRIDGE EDGES CLOSER

Trainer Ron Goodridge closed the gap between he and Tom Tomillo with two wins on Monday. He won the third with Light Up The House ($14.60) and the sixth with Miesque's Encore ($7.20). Tomillo leads the trainer's race 23-21. Goodridge has three runners entered for Tuesday, the final day of racing. Tomillo has five, including a two-horse entry in the third.
