Jockey Vincent Flores, thrown from his horse Thelittleman when the horse broke down in Thursday's second race, was taken to Loyola Hospital but released, with no apparent injuries.
MEIER GAINS GROUND
Jockey Randy Meier, with two victories, edged closer to Shane Laviolette in the race for top jock at Hawthorne's Fall meet. Laviolette goes into Friday leading 42-40. Meier won the first with Don'timpressmemuch ($14.00) and the eighth with Winning Affair ($37.40). Laviolette had no winners Thursday.
EMIGH SCORES THREE
Jockey Chris Emigh took over third place (29 winners) in the jockey race with three winners Thursday. He won the second with Great Grandson ($41.00), the third with Pine Valley ($5.20), and the sixth with Spanish Miss ($20.20).
PEREZ TAKES TWO
Jockey Eddie Perez won two Thursday. He took the fourth with Mac Balu ($25.20) and the ninth with Cirilo ($48.60).
VANIER WINS TWICE
Harvey Vanier won a pair Thursday. His Great Grandson ($41.00) took the second and came right back with Pine Valley ($5.20) in the third.
GOODRIDGE BACK IN SECOND
Trainer Ron Goodridge took sole possession of second place on Thursday when he won with Special Payday ($11.60). He trails leader Tom Tomillo by four (23-19).
