HAWTHORNE NOTES
| Hawthorne Racecourse Daily Notes Contact: Jim Miller (708) 780-3700 TIC N TIN VICTORIOUS Tic N Tin, owned and trained by Ron Brandenburg, was placed first through disqualification in Sunday's Colonel Powell Stakes. Tic N Tin led for all but the last few yards before Willowbrook Lane split horses late to post a half-length victory. However, Shane Laviolette, the jockey of Tic N Tin filed an objection stating that Willowbrook Lane, when making his way through between Tic N Tin and Magic Doe, had run into the hindquarters of Tic N Tin, causing him to lose his action. The stewards upheld that objection. Big Weekend For Sterling Jockey Larry Sterling had a solid day Saturday. He won the fourth with Sure As Shipp ($11.80) and won the sixth, the $100,000 Little Sucker Stakes, with Out Of Options ($25.20). He took the ninth on Sunday with Terrabonne Halo ($14.40). Meier With Two On Saturday Randy Meier scored with a pair on Saturday. He took the third with Mc Mahon ($3.20) and the ninth with You're A Hero ($6.40). Jan Ely Wins Two In Two Days Trainer Janice Ely had a profitable weekend. She won Saturday's ninth race with Ben's Bluesman ($24.40) who was claimed from the race and came back with another win early Sunday when Phyllis Court ($5.20) took the first. ### |
