Jockey Shane Laviolette Wins 1,000th

STICKNEY, IL -- Jockey Shane Laviolette grabbed his 1,000th career victory today in Hawthorne Race Course's sixth race aboard Big Surprise. Laviolette, 27, was born in New Orleans and is the son of Harold Laviolette, a successful rider for 20 years. Shane took out his jockey's license in 1991 and has been riding the Chicago circuit since 1993.
