(August 19, 2001) -- James Tafel LLC's Binalegend charged through an opening on the rail and drew off to a five-length victory in the Reluctant Guest Stakes Sunday at Arlington Park. Leading jockey Rene Douglas was in the irons aboard the 5-year-old daughter of Binalong who covered the mile over a sloppy main track in 1:38.19 and paid $10.40 to win. The Gene Cilio-trained mare earned $37,800 from the $57,330 purse to boost her bankroll to $220,720. The win was her sixth in 23 lifetime starts. Moonlady finished second with Alybgood another length back in third. The field for the Reluctant Guest was reduced from nine to three when the race was taken off the turf following heavy overnight rains and subsequent morning precipitation. - END - |
