ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. (Sept. 27, 2001) -- Great international racing and a "French cuisine" breakfast at Arlington Park are scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 7 with the simulcast of the Arc de Triomphe and five other races, including four Group 1 stakes races, from Longchamp Racecourse in France.

On "Arc" day, Arlington will host a special Breakfast at Arlington from 7:30 to 10 a.m. with post time for the first race at 8 a.m.. Admission to the track is free, and the breakfast buffet at the east end of the apron level near the Hearth Bar, featuring French Toast and croissants as well as eggs, bacon, sausage and assorted pastries, costs $3.95. Post time for the Arc is 10:30 a.m.

For the first time this year, the Arc de Triomphe is a part of the international World Series Racing Championship and will be the seventh leg of the 12 race series that includes the Arlington Million at Arlington Park, won by Silvano on Aug. 18, and both the Breeders' Cup Classic and Turf in the United States. Post time for the Arc, which will be run at a mile and a half on the turf, is 10:30 a.m.

In addition to the Arc, the four other Group 1 turf races on the card are: the Prix de L'Opera, Prix de L'Abbaya, Marcel Boussac, and the Grand Criterium. The sixth race will be the Handicap Epreuve, a mile and a quarter allowance race on the turf. The wagering menu for all six simulcast races will include win, place and show as well as exacta and trifecta betting. Post time for the first race, the Prix de L'Opera, is 8 a.m. and for the sixth race, the Handicap Epreuve, is 11:15 a.m. Following the simulcast from France, live racing at Arlington Park begins at 12:30 p.m.
