ARLINGTON PARK GOES RETRO ON COLUMBUS DAY WITH "BRING BACK THE '50s" DAY AT THE TRACK

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. (Sept. 26, 2001) -- Columbus Day on Monday, Oct. 8 will be a blast from the past at Arlington Park. As a celebration of the decade that brought us the golden age of "Rock & Roll," Arlington will go retroactive with a Columbus Day "Bring Back the '50s" day at the racetrack.

Prices for admission and the Daily Racing Guide will be rolled back to $1 with food and beverage specials, including hot dogs, soft drinks, popcorn and novelty ice cream, only 50 cents.

Radio personality Dick Biondi from Oldies 104.3 FM will be joined by the PT Cruiser Crew at Arlington from noon to 2 p.m. Biondi will treat racing fans to promotional giveaways and prizes from the Oldies radio station and will do live call-ins from the track. In addition, Oldies 104.3 will hold on-air contests to award Arlington Park $50 food and beverage certificates during the week leading up to Columbus Day.

There will be with other musical entertainment around the track, at the entrances and in the winner's circle, throughout the day. The Shear Delight barbershop quartet, who have performed the national anthem at Milwaukee Brewers and Bucks games and recently opened for academy award winner Russell Crowe at Chicago's House of Blues, will be among the musical acts.

To add to the ambience of the '50s theme, video clips of classic TV shows and ads from that decade will be shown on the in-house broadcast and infield giant screen, and the music played over the track's in-house audio between races will feature popular oldies tunes.

Arlington Park, the Chicago area's premier Thoroughbred racetrack located in Arlington Heights, Ill., continues its 102-day live racing meet through October 28, 2001. Arlington Park, which merged with Churchill Downs Incorporated (Nasdaq: CHDN) in September 2000, also operates five off-track, simulcast-wagering facilities -- "Trackside" Arlington Park (Arlington Heights) and Quad City Downs (East Moline), and in Chicago, Rockford, Waukegan.
